History of Santoshpur Union
The battle of Kameshwar, the king of Kamrup, took place at Santoshpur in 1447 AD with Shah Ismail Ghazi. This is why this place is popular with the people.
History of Santoshpur Union: - Santoshpur Union was formed in 1943 with the first 15 villages and 3 wards during the British rule. At that time the chairman of the union was called a panchayat. During the rule of Pakistan in 1950, the post of Gram Panchayat was declared the post of Union Chairman. In 1967, some representatives of the then Pakistan appointed Jury Board Panchayat Chairman
Is. The late Azim Bepari was nominated as the chairman of the first union council and he was the chairman of this union during the war of liberation. After the independence of Bangladesh in 1971, the late Ali Hossain was elected, and now Md. Liaquat Ali (Laku) is serving as the Chairman of the Union Parishad. At present Santoshpur Union Parishad consists of 18 small and big villages and 9 wards.
Battlefield:

The armed struggle of the freedom fighters took place with the Pak army at Taltala of Nilur Khamar Mouza of Taltola Santoshpur Union. The Taltala battlefield is located near the Santoshpur Union Parishad office. Besides, there is a mass grave in Sarup Nilurkhamar mouza which witnessed the massacre during the war of liberation in 1971.

Social customs and culture

 
The people of this union are naturally calm and humble. Dress mayors wear sari blouses and cellar shirts and men wear lungi, pajamas Punjabi, shirt and coat pants tie. Apart from this, hospitality, eating habits, nabanna, pusna, dakshina, renting of folk art, tasting, akika, polygamy, New Year's rituals etc. are the well-known customs of this union.

Cultural customs
The people of this union are adept at naming locals or outsiders in the past based on their characteristics. For example, in the case of special identification of people named Jalil, Chaita Jalil, Chika Jalil, Tosa Jalil, Kala Jalil, Pati Jalil, etc. However, now it has decreased a lot. Again, the main feature of the language is that now the language of Rangpur has a lot in common with the language of Kar, but in some cases there are discrepancies
. For example, Khang in place of Yang Khai in place of Jai. "A" is replaced by "R" such as "Aju" is replaced by "Ruju".

Chamir Aminul was born in Nilurkhamar, Santoshpur, Nageshwari, Kurigram. Father Abdus is an umbrella dealer. He is a researcher and folk poet. Apart from folk and Bhavaya songs, he has composed the Pala song "Devyani Dipendra" based on the murder of the royal family of Nepal.
